Le Dell Lattitude XT , futur tablet PC confirmé de la société Dell, sembl exciter la presse et de potentiels futurs acquéreurs de telle manière qu'il suscite un intérêt croissant sur Internet. La preuve en images par cette video péchée sur YTube, pour le moins explicite et qui en dit long ou pas assez (Franchement ils se la pètent trop) sur l'espoir entretenu par ce nouveau Tablet PC, le premier de celui qui a révolutionné la microinformatique par un système de vente mais pas par une R&D très prolixe ...

Néanmoins les spéculations vont bon train suite à une interview du Direct EMEA de Dell qui indique rapidement "Eric Greffier, Dell's EMEA director of client marketing, suggested that the inherent tablet PC support and enhanced handwriting recognition included with Windows Vista made the form factor more attractive, as users would in the past have had the added cost of buying the Tablet PC Edition of Windows XP. Processeur Intel ULV, Windows Vista, Ecran Outdoor (certainement Technologie LED), grosse autonomie semblent être les maîtres mots de la construction de cette nouvelle unité. Les épculations laissent donc apparaitre les pistes suivantes concernant les spécifications matérielles:

• Single or dual-core Intel ULV CPUs (with integrated graphics)
• 12.1-inch LED-backlit WXGA 1280 x 800 display option
• Outdoor viewing WXGA 1280 x 800 display option
• Pen and touch support (digitizer and touchscreen)
• (3) USB 2.0 ports, Ethernet (duh), 1394, VGA out WiFi options up to 802.11n,
• optional Bluetooth Optional 3G (HSDPA, EV-DO Rev. A)
• ExpressCard slot, optional Smart Card slot, fingerprint reader

Bref rien de très excitant, si ce n'est une machine en accord avec les standards et le matériel préexistant sur le marché :)

UPDATE: Mise à jour des potentielles spécifications via Gottabemobile

• XT Tablet PC becomes official on October 9. Supposed to start taking orders about a week before, and start shipping 2 - 3 weeks after October 9
• 1.2ghz dual core ULV
• Integrated video chipset will be ATI
• There will be a 5400 rpm harddrive option, max size of 80 gb. 32gb SSD will be an option, too
• 3GB max memory
• Weight: 3lbs
• Dimensions: 8.5 x 11 x 1.5. Our source said it looked about as thick as an X61 Tablet PC
• Battery life should be around 5 hours on standard and 9 - 10 hours with an additional extended battery that will attach to the bottom of the unit
• XT will have a much smaller, thinner, and lighter power adapter than current Dell laptops
• Screen is 12.1", max res of 1280 x 800, multimode screen ( pen and touch ), and ambient light sensor
• Screen is capacitive touch made by N-Trig. It is not a Wacom digitizer. Motion Computing also uses N-Trig in their LE1700 WriteTouch Tablet PC.
• Screen will be offered as a standard OLED screen or outdoor option. Outdoor option will add a little weight and thickness to the unit. Our source feels pretty good about OLED. It is what he wrote down in his notes, but it could very well be LED . I guess we'll see in October.

• According to our source, the unit he saw didn't look like the Engadget picture that we posted earlier. He doesn't recall there being a bevel on the screen and around the LCD was a kind of silver strip or trim.
